Jesse and Johan were good friends before they caught electronic music fever. In the early 1990’s they were so inspired by this new music and the DJ phenomenon that they each picked up a set of relatively cheap turntables and began to experiment. Johan started out spinning down tempo jungle under the alias Frequency while Jesse had his fling with happy hardcore. It wasn’t until they got involved with the underground warehouse scene that they became complete house converts. Their sound was inspired by the soul and funk of deep house, garage, tribal and vocals that were flowing from these small Toronto establishments including nights like the legendary "Buzz" that often featured acts like Gene Ferris, DJ Sneak and Derrick Carter.

It wasn’t until 1995 that Johan hooked up with the Liquid crew and started to spin under the Frequency alias with little recognition. Their first big break came when the duo teamed up for a set of funky house at the Liquid Adrenaline second anniversary event called "Superstars". The combo dropped a tag team set before house legend James Christian and, according to the opinion of many, "stole the show". It was that event that earned them their residency with Liquid Adrenaline and opened the doors to numerous other events. Since that time, Jesse and Johan have dropped sets in several major cities including a couple of recent tours of the midwestern United States and surprise gigs in the nation’s capital.

Besides their hectic DJ schedule, Jesse & Johan have also been involved in promoting

their own series of events called "Evening". These parties have become notorious for their intimate atmosphere, mature funky house sound and exclusive feel. Despite a growing demand the two have chosen to keep their events more intimate and down-sized in order to satisfy the requests of the true house connoisseur.

Following their involvement in both spinning and promotions, Jesse and Johan have taken the next logical step into music production. Inspired by the success of Liquid Adrenaline’s own Hatiras, Jesse and Johan have put together a formidable studio that promises to set the tone for the future of this combo. Recording under the name Johan W., this half of the team has already put together a string of smash tracks including "Whiny Hussy", "Bells Please", "Freak It" and others. Johan W. is currently negotiating a deal which would give him a busy release schedule including possible work for DJ Urban’s very own "Lunchbox Records." Furthermore, Johan W. is presently putting together the soundtrack for a feature film with Hatiras. Keep your ears open for the true house sound of this amazing duo and keep on the lookout for the next Johan W. record to smash a turntable near you!
